Kelda Showers Installed in Barratt’s Zed House

Zed House is Barratt’s zero carbon concept home, being the first home in the country built by a major housebuilder that substantially exceeds the Future Homes Standard.

We are delighted to have partnered with Barratt Developments plc on their zero carbon concept home. Situated in Salford, Zed House was designed to test and monitor contemporary sustainable housing technologies, including our own Air-Powered™ technology.

Zed House was built using advanced contemporary construction methods and in partnership with leading tech organisations.

Kelda Showers fully support Barratt’s commitment to building sustainably, as we all drive towards net zero.

Kelda’s Air-Powered™ technology offers some of the fastest ROI of any carbon reducing technology.

We requested product performance verification from Energy Saving Trust in order to ensure that our showers meet the highest energy performance standards.

A British independent organisation set up to promote energy efficiency, Energy Saving Trust has been a constant source of support and advice for governments and business.

Kelda showers typically save between 50% – 60% of water and energy compared to conventional showers. This significantly reduced carbon emissions, hence their inclusion in Barratt’s Zed House.

Since our genesis, Kelda’s mission of making less water feel like so much more has been driven by pioneering scientific innovation. Applying advanced aerospace engineering, we have created a revolutionary shower that offers users an indulgent experience delivered in a more sustainable solution.

Our showers are not only eco-friendly, but they are engineered to last too. Designed and manufactured in the UK, our shower products have been exposed and tested against the most demanding real-life environments. This ensures that they can withstand the pressure of high usage.

Kelda’s Air-Powered showers can be modelled through SAP Appendix Q. Test calculations have found that replacing a conventional mixer shower with our Air-Powered shower can help achieve compliance with Part L of the Building Regulations* and, as less water is used, it can also help with Part G.
